About

BBC Studios is the home of British comedy and is responsible for many of the greatest comedies of all time. From nurturing new voices to partnering with the country’s leading writers and performers, BBC Studios creates era-defining comedy.

BBC Studios’ impact on the biggest global platforms can be seen in the multi award-winning epic Good Omens for Amazon, the much-loved comedy-drama Trying written by Andy Wolton for Apple TV+, and our Netflix sketch special A Whole Lifetime from four-time BAFTA winner Jamie Demetriou.

Current productions include BBC murder mystery Death Valley starring Timothy Spall, Tom Basden’s critically acclaimed BBC One family sitcom Here We Go, BBC One comedy thriller Black Ops starring BAFTA-winner Gbemisola Ikumelo and Hammed Animashaun, and Diane Morgan’s brilliantly absurd Mandy. The most recent series of the multi BAFTA-winning Inside No. 9 continued BBC Studios’ longstanding work with Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton following the iconic The League of Gentlemen and Psychoville.

BBC Studios Comedy is also passionate about discovering new voices, and has produced the debut projects of the country’s most exciting writers and writer-performers. This passion can be seen in productions including our much-anticipated Channel 4 sitcom Break Clause from Jess Bray, Liam Williams’s Ladhood, Gbemisola Ikumelo’s BAFTA-winning Brain in Gear, and Charlie & Daisy May Cooper’s multi-BAFTA winning series This Country. Those shows follow in the footsteps of BBC Studios productions The Day Today and The Thick of It, which launched the careers of Chris Morris and Armando Iannucci, and The Office, the debut series from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.

BBC Studios Comedy is committed to representing all corners of the UK, and making them laugh. This is evident in modern hits like Welsh sitcom Mammoth, and Scottish sitcom Two Doors Down – as well as the multi-BAFTA winning Mrs Brown’s Boys, which was voted the most popular sitcom of the 21st century by Radio Times, and has won five National Television Awards.
